I don't post here enough. I know. I'm always on IJ, but looking at my stats here, people visit. So in order to give you all something to look at, I'm going to drone on about myself more. This post will be about being vegan.
I'm sort of vegan. I try. Very hard. But it's not easy, cheese gets slipped into places you don't expect, people bleach sugar with animal bones. It's all very complicated.
But I'm going to talk a moment about cheese. I'm not going to lie, I love cheese. I've been to France, I lived in Italy, I've had some good cheese. I'm all about the non-violent aspect of consumption. But, I will eat cheese if it's made at a local farm, by well cared for animals in someones kitchen. If you have a pet goat, and you milk it and make cheese, you are my hero and I will soon be at your door asking for cheese please.
Maybe I'm missing the whole 'don't objectify' animals part of being vegan or something, I don't really know, I haven't read books. I'm no expert. That's just my interpretation.
If I can see first hand you love your goat, keep her for a pet, she's kept in good conditions, and all that, why is it wrong to eat cheese made from her milk? Is it the actual MILKING that you object to?
I tell you what, I'm going to go to the library and find some reference material and get back to you.
