Porphyria

My clear Converse came the other day.

I designed some purple gloves.

Being Vegan - Cheese

I don't post here enough. I know. I'm always on IJ, but looking at my stats here, people visit. So in order to give you all something to look at, I'm going to drone on about myself more. This post will be about being vegan.

I'm sort of vegan. I try. Very hard. But it's not easy, cheese gets slipped into places you don't expect, people bleach sugar with animal bones. It's all very complicated.

But I'm going to talk a moment about cheese. I'm not going to lie, I love cheese. I've been to France, I lived in Italy, I've had some good cheese. I'm all about the non-violent aspect of consumption. But, I will eat cheese if it's made at a local farm, by well cared for animals in someones kitchen. If you have a pet goat, and you milk it and make cheese, you are my hero and I will soon be at your door asking for cheese please.

Maybe I'm missing the whole 'don't objectify' animals part of being vegan or something, I don't really know, I haven't read books. I'm no expert. That's just my interpretation.

If I can see first hand you love your goat, keep her for a pet, she's kept in good conditions, and all that, why is it wrong to eat cheese made from her milk? Is it the actual MILKING that you object to?

I tell you what, I'm going to go to the library and find some reference material and get back to you.

Doc Socks

I'm not sure if I'm going to make the second one of these. The yarn was utter crap. I should have taken a better look at it when I was winding it. It was slubby and unplied in places, and knotted. I muddled through the one sock, and posted it as an UGG on Ravelry. I should tell you that Roxanne, the lady who sells the yarn, PMed me right away and offered to replace the yarn. I'm not able to accept a replacement for something I already used, so I will probably decline, but it was some pretty psychic customer service.

Mute

Scream through dreams that cut your voice off.
Wide awake will nothing soothe?
With one word I'd take this pain from you
but I fall mute.

I heard you cry in my distance.
I heard the lies through all the tears.
I was denied and left distant.
I heard you fell, well I'm still here

I heard you cry in my distance
You fucking lied, well I'm still here.

I need a bookmark.

I started three different books this week. I can normally get through one or two, but I'm ambitious. I suppose this just showcases my eclectic tastes. The top one is a somewhat fictional biography of Anne Bolyen, the middle is a Victorian murder mystery, the last is a nonfiction work, sort of a history, of the goth movement.

I've been listening to The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack. The one with the bonus tracks from Fall Out Boy and Marilyn Manson. Somehow the music fits.

I whipped up a Crackberry Cozy for my new 8700c last night. I don't really want the screen to get scratched like my last one did. It took maybe an hour and I love it. This is hands down my favorite color of STR, it's Chickabiddy and they stopped dying it. *cries*

Seacell

I am totally in love with seacell. I have about 2 pounds of seacell and merino pencil roving that just begs me to spin it. And I would if I could figure out how to dye it. I've got a stash of Hand Maiden Fleece Artist yarn that's a nice seacell blend. And then I have this.

It's Zen Yarn Garden's Merino Seacell blend is a color called Pink Kitty. It's gorgeous and I've had no idea what to do with it. I wanted to maybe make a shawl, but honestly, I'd never wear it. So I'm going to make socks.
I spent an unnatural amount of time on Ravelry last night reading the MCY Saga and browing sock patterns. I think I'm going to make Toe Up Vog Ons. With a picot bind off and everything. Little short socks to wear with my black Docs. Cause that would be cute.

Today was my birthday!!

Woot!!

So lets see... I ended up ordering a new camera. A Canon Rebel, all fancy with a few lenses. I'm hoping to be able to get some good shots of me. Yes, I said me. Narcissistic for a reason. Anywho. I'm going to practice with it for a while so I can improve my self photography skills so I don'e have a ton of 'I'm so emo, look at me from the top of my head while I pout' shots. When my back piece is finished and my chest piece retouched, I'm totally going to submit a set to SG. It's my goal in life.

So I just cut my nails. They grow so quick, and all of a sudden I can feel my fingertips and it's sort of freaking me out.

My brother and I went shopping today. I wanted some slim cut men's jeans. Mens fit this no bum / no hip having girl body better then womans. And all the slim fit Levi's I tried on were not slim at all. The waist was nice, they fit my bum and skinny thighs, but they were still weird down my leg. But I bought a pair, I'm thinking with my odd laundry practices, I'll shrink them easy.

I also found some black and white skull print board shorts for the next time I so surfing. Love them. Must surf soon. But I swear I saw a shark last time I was out, so yeah, freaked out.

I got a kitty for my birthday. She's a bengal. I named her Daisy Smith. As soon as the above mentioned camera is delivered from Amazon, you're totally going to get a bajillion kitty shots. Heh.
